Role details
The post is a 12-month position in a project management role to design and deliver a major transport programme, including developing cycling infrastructure, new carriageways and bridges.
The role will sit in the major infrastructure project team and has responsibility for overseeing scope, feasibility, securing land and approving the design, and owning & managing the project’s risks, budget & programme.
Key Tasks

Pro-actively deliver all aspects of successful projects that offer best value for money and achieve commercial targets.

Matrix manage a team of technical staff including, health and safety, learning and development and other appropriate HR matters in accordance with policies.

To manage or coordinate staff who are working within the same specialist service area (maybe across geographical areas) to ensure shared outcomes are delivered.

To assume direct responsibility for the management of selected budgets
Experience and skills required
-
You’ll be a project/ programme manager experienced within highways, preferably major transport projects, and working with a project team with a range of specialist skills.

Experience of managing project programmes, risk and finance, providing highway design feedback to optimise benefits, and dealing with both internal and external stakeholders.

A Professional Qualification Level 6 (e.g. Degree) (or similar qualification in the relevant discipline) OR substantial experience in the relevant specialist field of works.

Experience in delivering complex major schemes from concept to delivery.

A sound knowledge of the latest legislative requirements as they relate to the identified specialist field.
