Job Description
Our Local Authority client has a requirement to be part of their public health team. The role is to support in protecting residents from COVID-19 through prevention and rapid implementation of the Local Outbreak Plan.
As well as strong skills and experience in leading on complex Public Health issues, we are looking for a positive attitude and the ability to cope with multiple and changing demands. You will be able to work flexibly and autonomously. You will be politically astute and enable elected members to maximise their positive impact on health and wellbeing. You will be a clear communicator and able to take people with you to effect change.
You will lead on COVID-19 related work. This will include responsibility for areas of the Local Outbreak Plan and supporting with the COVID-19 response. The post will provide line management support to a small team of staff supporting the COVID-19 effort, and link with the wider Public Health team as needed.
The key elements of this role are to;
- Play a key role in developing, shaping and assuring the COVID-19 health protection function, which includes managing individuals and teams, working closely with partners and ensuring delivery of high-quality surveillance, response and support systems.
- Have responsibility for developing and maintaining close working relationships both internally and with partner organisations
- Be an active member of the Multi Agency Operational Cell (MAOC) and the COVID-19 Health Protection Board.
- Contribute strategically to the development and maintenance of effective systems for the surveillance of COVID-19.
- Proactively use COVID-19 surveillance outputs to inform and influence the local actions, policies and strategies.
- Influence, and where appropriate, lead the development and implementation of a system wide response to COVID-19.
- Employ highly effective communication, negotiation and influencing skills to enable stakeholder relationships to deliver objectives.
- Deal with complex and conflicting subject matter problems.
- Ensure compliance with all confidentiality and governance requirements at all times.
- Lead and contribute to proactive and responsive media issues.
- Proactively contribute to wider organisational development.
